Esports

I never cared, I just pretended I did. There were some cool games here and there occasionally. but not in FPS I’d say, haha. Some RTS games for 1997 game were OK. I was one of the top 3 players for the RTS to begin with.

My kids been into it 4+ years and is on a college team.

I don’t fault anyone for the thrill of competition or for cheering them on.

For one game, there was a real 50% split. The non-esports people did NOT want to hear about esports and the audiences had to be separated. Then we were never allowed to talk about esports to the non-esports audience. I said hey at least grab some best of tips or make a video of best tips for class etc., but they wouldn’t do it. haha.  The pros can teach you some things. So you grab it then quit watching.

I also never understood why anyone wants to watch other people play video games except for tips. The entire 1980s the line was “no one wants to watch anyone play video games.” You want to play it yourselves.

Then here we see Twitch take off. Twitch made no sense to me for decades either. I only watched people to unlock rewards for games, then I close the window. haha.
