The Bold & The Beautiful

Soap Opera

My grandma used to watch this in like 1991 or so. When I got to college, there were only (3) TV channels. One was a gay guy traveling. So this show had chicks in the hot tub in bikinis so I had to pick this show over that choice. We had no cable at college. It was a Christian school and they didn’t want people to have TVs and banned VCRS. haha.

What’s insane is now it’s been going 39 years. 2 people are still on it. I was age 13 when it came out.  The weird thing about this is how many times they swap actors. One character has been 4+ people. What sucks is they have a good actor you enjoy then they replace it with an uglier, worse actor.

One of the hot chicks went plastic surgery crazy and now looks scary.

In the old days you’d say these shows are for women who are not at work and home all day. Which is probably true. As time went on into the 1990s, they just added soap opera elements to virtually every show so you’re really watching a SOAP anyway, on today’s TV even if you think you’re not. Every show is a cheese SOAP anyway just with better production. The only thing you see less of is the cheating, and cheesy staring off into the camera scenes.

My ex gave me shit about watching it but then watched those fake dating shows which is 100x worse.

My mind was blown when I discovered Ridge from the show is from this song:

I can’t say you should watch as it got progressively woke as time continued. We had a year-long story on AIDS. haha. But I like this one more than the other ones.

For everything in my life, this is the only thing besides my parents that has lasted from before college, after college, after video games, after former spouse, etc. I haven’t watched it in many years though. But I found season 1 (1987) that they always refer to for the next 38 years, on youtube. Pre-woke content.
