Long after me, there was this community manager on a MMORPG. Well to talk to people on the forums you need to have a really thick skin. I took 7 years of abuse. Then people would head over to my personal site, then come back and use information against me (mainly politics). Sometimes people would actually get to me and I’d get mad or hurt.

The worst thing that can happen in a MMORPG typically is a GM or CM going crazy and it happened for various games.

Some people can’t hack it or it wears them down until they lose it (community managers). This CM was clearly slowly losing it. I thought I’d not have to have any involvement and it would be obvious something should be done by his boss (former boss of me) but it kept going on. A few times I just sent a link (without comment) or just a repeat of what the person said to the boss (somewhat of a friend). Why was no one watching this guy?

Then the CM really went off the deep end. He called the customers “turd flies.” I couldn’t believe it. I was laughing my ass off. Before that he even said more things than I ever called a customer in my whole career but turd flies was really the pinacle of losing it vs. customers. The memes people created were hilarious. I’d love to post them. I saved them off.

He was either fired or forced to quit (guessing fired) but I never heard of him again after that.  Ultimately he couldn’t hack being exposed to that level of abuse and he himself should have done something prior to losing it or they should have cut him off way earlier. And that was WAY worse than anything they were mad about me before. haha.
