It’s been 10-14 years in the hoarder house since we’ve had a live Christmas tree. I’ve had no experience doing it myself. I got it on the roof of the truck. A costco tree for $86 (what a rip). The mistake I made is I had a lot of rachet straps at home and I should have just grabbed some instead of using their Costco twine. It made it home ok but the kid was trapped in the car (not really), until I cut the twine.
The next mistake was that I didn’t cut 10″ of the tree trunk of branches. So it didn’t fit into the base at all. We had to drag it out and cut it until it fit. The base kinda blows but it was free.
The final mistake was trying to make it even/not tilted or the top is a bit too high for the roof.
But it’s a learning experience for next year.
Good on you for making some good memories for the kids. Getting a live tree was a big deal to me as a kid and is the source of some great memories. As for the $85, that is pricey for a Costco tree but it’s still not bad overall and their trees are usually pretty nice (if that pic is actually your tree then you got a gorgeous one.) I live right down the street from a well known tree farm and at this time of year, people come from a state away and pay $110 to cut their own tree down. It’s a racket but again it’s all about making those good memories.
