We were very excited to hear the show is coming back and that they had managed to get all the actors to come back again. But….
Last night we watched three episodes, and there was ONE laugh in the entire three episodes.
The writing is just absolutely terrible. All of the funny episodes that you remember, none of that was recaptured in this reboot. It’s NOT funny. It’s just absolute torture to watch.
You’re like why didn’t I hear about this show coming back or anyone talking about it? This is why.
There was a joke video someone made one time where they took Malcolm in the Middle and made it super serious like Breaking Bad, and made the whole series just like Breaking Bad. I couldn’t find it, but that’s what this reboot has turned out to be. Everything is serious, and there’s ZERO comedy. Then they try to make a few funny scenes and they are not funny at all. It’s just absolute torture where you’re sitting there, and the show is going, and it’s just happening to you. You’re like, I’m not enjoying this whatsoever. My son joked about being strapped into a chair with your eyes forced open.
On top of that, they of course, woke it up for the modern audience. Francis already had an asian wife, which was fine, but in the reboot, then they gave Malcolm a black girlfriend. OK. But then they made the new baby at the end of the series grow up to a THEY/THEM non-binary. Then the final nail was that they made Stevie a gay guy with a husband and a baby. At that point, you’re like GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE. Stevie was into girls in the original show. So I went to search if anyone else felt the same about the woke bullshit crap, and I found a post followed by the responses going How dare anyone have anything wrong with it. You had a family show with a white family, and now that’s unacceptable in any show. haha. Zero representation for typical white families that we grew up with on TV. In the late 1990s, they started jamming a gay guy in every show, and now it’s progressed until every couple is LGBT in some way. There were already two black characters in the show, and Francis’s asian wife and Stevie were disabled, so there was no reason to continue to add 3 more modern woke situations. They gotta jam that shit for no reason in every show. If the show was at least FUNNY or any way similar to the one we grew up with, maybe that wouldn’t matter.
Why do movies, games, and TV suck now? The future is so dystopian. You have to always watch or play old stuff to remember how life was before everything was crap.
The actor who played REESE hasn’t done anything since the show, so he’s out of practice, and it shows for the first several episodes. Then it’s like, ok, he’s back in the groove of being the same character as he was as a kid. He’s just going back to what he knew without any development.
