It’s absolute shit, and even if the shipping is free, it’s worse than free shipping. I bought a new Metal Detector for $600+ and I was very excited about it. It was supposed to come 5/30 and it just sits day after day about an hour away and they can’t get it the last bit to my house. It’s 3 days late past their date. Then you can’t even complain to them about it. They block out the options.
Your order was shipped via FedEx Ground Economy (the service formerly called SmartPost). It’s the absolute cheapest “free shipping” option Garrett (and most online stores) uses for sales. Why Ground Economy / SmartPost Sucks
- It’s the slowest residential service FedEx offers (2–7+ business days, often longer)
- Designed for low-priority, cheap shipments
- Frequently gets delayed, especially around holidays like Memorial Day
- Tracking is notoriously bad and updates slowly
- Last-mile delivery can bounce between FedEx and USPS in some cases
Basically, when you choose (or get forced into) free shipping on a sale, you’re almost always getting this bottom-tier service.
