Subnautica 2

It’s early access. The two kids (adults) and I all bought it for a total of $90.

We played for about 6 hours, then it seemed like we basically beat all the content. However, once we built some subs, we did find some more content for more than 2 days of play.

To me, the game is super boring. You can’t fight the fish or loot them. You just die from them. My daughter went back to play Sub 1 again to check the differences.

  • The gameplay is just swim somewhere, drag the shit back to your pod. You can improve your base, but why? It’s kinda boring in my opinion. It was putting me to sleep. It was only fun because I was playing with my 2 children.
  • The tools you build require batteries, so you have to go back and craft batteries and replace them as they run out of power repeatedly. Kinda annoying.
  • Can’t really customize your character much, yet, and their choices are lame and woke.
  • Managing all your stuff is a pain. Keep building more storage space. I’m just dropping shit on the floor or going to get more portable storage, then dropping that on the floor.
  • You want to explore, but you’re always running out of air, even with the upgrades. You’re like this exploration would be enjoyable if I weren’t running out of air.
  • Things you think you should be able to loot, you can’t loot.
  • The story people are blathering on about shit we didn’t care about in the background. haha.
  • We built a sub, then all 3 of us were on it. We keep going into areas that are unfinished.
  • A giant ass clam eats someone, and they didn’t even die.
  • You are often WAY far from your base, so it takes forever to get back to it. Super annoying. 500M from your base. Even with the boost, and the boost items, and fins. The vehicle can for sure help there.

Basically, you’re paying a $30 downpayment on them finishing the game someday. Early access is such nonsense in my opinion.

Maybe it’s a good game for little kids. I was wishing I was just cruising the web instead, watching a show. haha.
